The following changes have been implemented for this season:
The statement: Entry to the XC League is open to all full members of the BHPA has been reinforced by specifying that flights will be removed when you are not a member. Also clarifies the requirements for non-UK residents who may have a different level of BHPA membership.
We got it wrong when we moved the end of the Winter League back to February in 2010, so it is now back to where it always has been.
Reduced from 15km to 10km for the National and International Leagues. In addition, circuit flight minimum distance for the International League has been reduced to 15km.
Previously Club leagues were able to set a lower minimum distance for Open Distance flights but this has now been extended to cover Out and Returns, Flat and FAI Triangles. The intention is to encourage new pilots to enter flights into the XC league and to encourage all pilots to try task-orientated flights on marginal days.
Increased from 1.3 to 1.35 in an attempt to encourage more pilots to attempt goal flights.
After complaints from pilots whose flights were removed at the end of last season for airspace violations, we have had to explain that we have neither the time or resources to check all flights straight away.
After a season of running the new software, we now have an idea of what to expect from submitted tracklogs and what information we need to validate the flight if the tracklog has several breaks. Takeoff and landing locations are essential, no matter how broken the tracklog, so we can calibrate altitude.
Parachute Drop Zones (PDZs) and Parachute Jump Exercises (PJEs) are now treated as controlled airspace and must be avoided if active.
Formalises when we publish the rules for the current season, because it takes time to review how everything worked the previous year and implement any changes if required.
