Never been to Butser before and may never go back. It was Hard Work getting roughed up before getting away, but once up, had a lovely line in front of the South Downs all the way to the Dyke and made it there by 1230. The idea was to try and fly to 'the end' (ha! ) - Margate, at the tip of Kent. If you go from Frocester or a site inland, you often get seabreezed by the Arundel section, so my thinking was, start just the other side of that. Anyhow it was all quite crosswind and lumpy, and I kept gliding off to get stupidly low, at one point about 3 trees high I reckon, before getting up. Carlo B and Nancy got away from the Dyke and I caught up with them near Lewes, they were always off the to side and were being a lot more clever than me, staying high. Staying high really does work, it reduces the stress levels and the views are better. Must learn that one. Anyhow got a lift in a tractor from a farmer, that's a first!
