It was pretty much top end wind for most of the day but a few of us managed to get off the hill. After an inordinate amount of time on the ridge I managed to get away.

The Pewsey Vale was like a 3 lane highway as the Sailplane Junior Nationals had tasked dow nto Keevil from Lasham. I was sharing most of my thermals with a sailplane or 2.

I gave Carfest South a good berth and pushed on towards Basingstoke. About 7.5km short, and at 3000ft the battery died on the GPS so I hope you will all believe that I cruised on happily and landed on a football field about 10 mins walk from the railway station. I actually arrived over Basingstoke with oodles of height and had to spiral and big ears down to the field. I've got a lovely photo of me at landing, Sherborne Road Playing Fields SU629535.

Overall, (apart from the GPS), this was a fantastic day out. The thermals were fairly sprightly and I had a few collapses but nothing too worrying.
