Pre comp day of the Lakes Charity Classic. The comp was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid restrictions and rescheduled this year for the same reason. We arrived early to help set up and then had a few hours to go and fly Clough before helping again in the evening.
Phil, Kev and myself set off up the hill, I had forgotten about the longish walk up (southern softies beware! ) but when we arrived at take off the wind was on and off we went. Kev climbed out first and set off at cloudbase with the ultimate destination of Kirkby Lonsdale and Phil and I hunted around together for our climb.
I lost Phil but found a decent climb and set off down towards Helvellyn with Grasmere as my goal taking in the stunning views of the Lakes on the way.
It didn't seem too windy in the air but as I arrived at the Grasmere showground there obviously was quite a bit of wind so some degree of gale hanging was involved before I landed safely amongst all the lovely Gin flags. What a great way to start the weekend.
