Post comp day and we are back on Clough again, I can't believe I walked up this hill for four days on the trot.
Just a handful of pilots on the hill and it didn't start well, standing and watching the local top pilots going to the bottom. However, patience paid off and Phil and I started off down towards Helvellyn with a mixture of scratching, ridge soaring and thermalling. Phil opted not to join my scratchy climb and pushed back up wind to find something better but I stuck with it, finding better climbs on the way to Grasmere.
Feeling adventurous! And seeing other pilots on Heron Pike I decided to carry on into the unknown and found a nice climb over Grasmere, my pleasure slightly marred by the 2 jets passing underneath me. Another climb over Ambleside took me onto Wansfell but I managed to lose it here so had a glide down into Troutbeck to land.
An enjoyable flight, a quick hitch down to the main road and caught the bus back to the campsite at Castlerigg, no mega distance but a lot of fun and new scenery to enjoy.
